Court Administrator
In 2016, he became the Chief of Staff to DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson and subsequently was sworn in on July 13, 2018 as the Court Administrator for DeKalb Juvenile Court.

Biography

Mr. Colet Odenigbo holds a B.S. in Political Science with a Minor in Criminal Justice from Alabama A&M University (Bulldog). He also holds a master’s degree in public administration with concentration in Management and Contracting from Troy University (Trojan). He is currently pursuing a doctoral program in Public Administration at North Central University. 

Mr. Odenigbo is a member of Georgia Council of Court Administrators, National Association of Court Managers, Georgia Association of Neutrals, American Association of Public Administrators, American Probation and Parole Association, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He attends Christ Our Hope Catholic Church in Lithonia and is married with two children. He loves to travel, fine dining, politics and enjoys outdoor activities.

Diversity of Experience

His experience and knowledge in Juvenile Justice spans over thirty years.  He began his career in Juvenile Justice as a volunteer with the city of Detroit, Michigan. In 1998, he was recruited by State of Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice as a Probation Officer. In 2000, Mr. Odenigbo joined DeKalb County Juvenile Court as a Senior Probation and later became the Program and Resource Manager for the court. He resigned in 2006 to contest for a seat on the DeKalb County School Board and House District 93 in the Georgia House of Representatives respectively. He is a trained Mediator and a Veteran of United States Navy, and he has held many leadership and management positions within and outside the United States. He served as Program Director for Fulton County Board of Health REACH. He was appointed as a Special Adviser to a State Governor in Nigeria. He was later appointed as a Project Technical Adviser to the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Program (SURE-P). Mr. Odenigbo has received many awards and citations for his community service and leadership in the community including; National Defense Medal, United States Navy Meritorious Medal, a Proclamation from the United States Congress declaring July 13th as Colet Odenigbo Day in the 4th Congressional District, a Citation from the Georgia House of Representative, a Proclamation from DeKalb Board of commissioners, US Congressional Certificate of Special Recognition, Champion of Hope Award from Africa Children’s Fund, a Trailblazer and Man of the Year Awards among others. Mr. Odenigbo has been nominated and will be joining other professional leaders in the 2024 Class of Leadership DeKalb.

Mr. Odenigbo’s vision for DeKalb County Juvenile Court is to provide support to all the Judges of the court, provide a nurturing and progressive professional environment for all our employees’ growth, and to leverage through partnerships and relationships to attract resources to the court.
