Colet Odenigbo holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a Minor in Criminal Justice from Alabama A&M University (Bulldog), He also holds a master’s degree in Public Administration with concentration in Management and Contracting from Troy University (Trojan). His experience and knowledge in Juvenile Justice spans over twenty-five years, starting as a volunteer in a Youth Prevention Program in Detroit, Michigan to a Post Certified Juvenile Probation Officer for the state of Georgia department of Juvenile Justice. He is a trained Mediator and a Veteran of United States Navy, Mr. Odenigbo has held many leadership and management positions within and outside the United States including Program Director for Fulton County Board of Health, Health Promotions Department. In 2010, he was appointed as a Special Adviser to a state Governor in Nigeria. After that assignment, in 2012, he was appointed as a Technical Adviser to the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on SURE-P, a social safety net palliative. In 2016, he became the Chief of Staff to Dekalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson and subsequently became Court Administrator for DeKalb Juvenile Court in 2018.
My vision for the court is to provide full and unabated support to all the Judges of this court, provide a nurturing and progressive environment for employees to grow. Leveraging on relationships to attract resources to the court, promote training for employees and benchmarking our practices with the industry’s best.
Mr. Odenigbo has received many awards and citations for community service, nation building and philanthropy including: National Defense Medal, United States Navy Meritorious Medal, A Citation from the Georgia House of Representative, a Proclamation from the United States Congress declaring July 13, as Colet Odenigbo day in the 4th congressional District, a Proclamation from DeKalb Board of commissioners, Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, Champion of Hope Award from Africa Children’s Fund, Marquis Who is Who in America, and many others.
Mr. Odenigbo is a member of Georgia Council of Court Administrators, National Association of Court Managers, Georgia Association of Neutrals, American Association of Public Administrators, member of the Knights of Saint Columbus, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc, and many others.
He attends Christ Our Hope Catholic Church in Lithonia and is married to Dr. Mrs. Nneka Odenigbo with two children.
